Overview

David Baker is an award winning media producer, educator and animator.  His extensive background in media production has led him to produce projects ranging from commercials and instructional videos to children’s CD-ROM games.  Working in a variety of styles designed to both entertain and help people learn, his enthusiasm for art and animation create unique and unforgettable productions.

David Baker’s skills include animation, video production, 2D and 3D graphic applications, marketing and management of production resources.

Instructor / Helped to design Michigan’s first Animation and Game Design 4 year curricula.
Instructor / Designed Animation Curricula for Kalamazoo Valley Community College.  Core planning  team member and developer of the $10m Center for New Media in Kalamazoo.

Created and maintained Classic Animation; the first successful ‘boutique’ style animation house in Michigan that blended 2d Animation and Computer graphics.  Worked with clients such as Herman Miller, Steelcase, Amway, AllenTest Products, Easter Seals, 4 Winns Boats.

Key Producer and Art Director at Lawrence Production.  Developed CD-Rom games and animated films and segments for national and regional clients.  Created animated characters and films for Kellogg’s Cereal City, Eaton Corporation, Phillips Media and Children’s Television Workshop. Produced film and animated spots for the US Navy. Work has aired on  MTV and Sesame Street.

Founder and Director of the Kalamazoo Animation Festival International – 2001 -2005. KAFI is now recognized as one of the top animation festivals in the world.
Developed over $500 K in grants and in-kind support for KAFI.
Principle Judge – Ann Arbor Film Festival 2006.
Guest Speaker – Saugatuck Children’s Film Festival 2003, 2004.
Judge and Animation Speaker – Vision Film Festival – Roanoke VA – 2006 - 2007
Seminar Speaker on Animation and Computer Graphics ITVA National conference 1990.
